The biochemical magic that fireflies use to produce light is based on four components: luciferin, the enzyme luciferase, adenosine triphosphate, and magnesium ions. These four are necessary to come together to produce light. Even though this process is well known, it is still a mystery how fireflies can control the light production being able to turn the glow on and off.
Inspired by this complex structure of the metabolism enzyme studio milz in cooperation with artist Eva Wernet built a mechanism driven by several air streams which is able to create a generative three dimensional path through space. A light emitter at the very end of the hidden mechanism is the only output and reveals an unforeseeable and animal-like movement. It refers to natures hidden secrets and systems which create the complex world in every single detail.
