KNIFE LINE - NIGHT SKETCH

a rack for knifes

In the newly launched Knife Rack series, we explore the intersections between analog and digital, as well as the relationship between form and function, ornament, and utility. Hand-drawn lines collected from drawings and sketches we made during our creative process were digitally translated and carved into a hardwood beam. The black and white custom material filling, with its fragmented appearance reminiscent of terrazzo, contrasts their dynamic flow. The casual nature of these sketched lines is elevated by their noble materiality. Moreover, upon closer inspection, the lines reveal a hidden function through their magnetic properties and their intended purpose as a knife rack.

The objects and furniture series are inspired by and utilize leftover materials from our studio's larger projects. They not only feature the same materials but also utilize unique joinery techniques and details specific to these projects, serving as object-based documentation pieces.
